IMPORTANT NEWS FOR 2006
Promenade Stages Rally & New Brighton Trophy Sprint Change of Date

Due to the British Open Golf Tournament taking place on Wirral this summer Wallasey Motor Club have been unable to retain their traditional July weekend date for the 2006 Rally and Sprint events.

After some lengthy discussions with Wirral Council and the various Championship Co-ordinators an alternative later weekend was approved for both events. However, it was discovered in the early stages of planning for 2006 that the new weekend coincided with a highest annual tide at New Brighton. Having experienced this phenomena once before and the problems it brings, specifically 10-20ft waves crashing over onto the course and service area, it was agreed that a further change of date should be sought.

After further discussions with Wirral Council a road closure approval for the 30th September/1st October 2006 has now been granted.

The Promenade Stages Rally will now run on Saturday 30th September 2006 with scrutineering and signing on being held on the Friday evening and Regulations are expected to be available during July.

With respect to the New Brighton Trophy Sprint, which would have taken place on 1st October, it has been identified that there is a clash with another championship-deciding event at the nearby Three Sisters Circuit. For the benefit of both events Wallasey Motor Club have taken the decision to not run the New Brighton Trophy Sprint in 2006 with the intent of the event returning as normal in 2007.

This decision has not been taken lightly and it is important for all involved to know that every avenue has been explored in trying to attain suitable alternative dates. We trust you will support our decision and also ensure that it is communicated in the correct manner to all in the sprinting world.

Finally we look forward to your much valued support for the rally in 2006 and both events in 2007.
