In
1999 John Price brought a brand new development Metro to New Brighton
to shakedown and test. Throughout the majority ofthe day he and Mike
Oates driving an Impreza WRC98 swapped seconds. By the end of 9 stages
both were level on time, but as Oates set off into the 10th stage the
Impreza's centre diff exploded leaving Price to a record seventh Promenade
victory. |

An
impressive performance right from the off ensured that John & Caroline
Price were able to achieve a record 10th Promenade Stages win and also
be the first team to manage a hat-trick of wins. The led the rally from
start to finish and with 2003 rally having attracted some very stiff
competition making their victory was one of their most impressive drives
at New Brighton. |

After
being so close to breaking the Metro strangle-hold on the event in 1999,
Mike Oates and Lisa Addy returned in 2000 in a newer exJuha Kankkunen
WRC Impreza & secured his second victory as a driver. It was by
no means awalk in the park for Oates and the Impreza, having been hard
pressed throughout the day by the 2nd & 3rd placed Metro 6R4s of
Mark Holmes and Ian Rowlance. |

John & Caroline Price's 2002 win had by no means been an easy one, having been in 2nd place to Peter Stojanov for most of the day. Stojanov was unlucky to blow his Metro's front diff allowing Price to then cruise to victory. Metros filled the top 3 spots again with Karl Broad in 2nd and Stojanov climbed back to 3rd. |

With
the competition hotting up each year it was yet another close fight
at the front of the field. In 2004 Price's main threat came from ANWCC
Champions John Stone & Lee Carter in anothyer Metro. Stone caught
and passed Price to hold a scant lead by the half way point. In true
form Price upped the pace to regain the lead and victory by a slender
5 seconds. |
