PREVIOUS WINNERS 1993 - 1998
1993 Clive Faine / Peter Joy - MG Metro 6R4

Newcomers to New Brighton's closed road circuit Clive Faine and Peter Joy managed to catch and pass the ex Cloin McRae Subaru Legacy of Mike Oates and Andy Marchbank in the closing stages of the day to snatch victory. Although Faine has never won the event since his car would return and win five years later.

1995 Graham Butler/Martin Dixon - Sapphire Cosworth 4x4

In 1995 Graham Butler had been a very late entry only just managing to get a starting position on the event. Whilst others fell foul of the extreme heat Graham used his neat driving skills and the car's reliability to take victory on his first outing at New Brighton.

1997 John Price / John Morgan - MG Metro 6R4
Price returned to New Brighton in 1997 but with regular Co-Driver at the time, John Morgan. This was because serious business was required with the event featuring as a round of The Ears Motoring News Championship. Price used his previous knowledge of the event to good use and secured victory against a very strong driver line-up

1994 Mike Oates / Andy Marchbank - Subaru Legacy RS
After the disappointment of last minute turbo failure in 1993 Oates and Marchbank returned in their ex McRae Subaru. All went well until the closing stages when the gremlins struck again and Co-Driver Marchbank was forced to hold a circuit breaker closed for the last stage ensuring they made it to the finish and a well deserved win.

1996 John Price / Eleanor Taylor - MG Metro 6R4

Another hot year and another fine display from John Price saw him secure victory in his Metro 6R4. Price's co-driver for the day was Eleanor Taylor who was covering the event for 'Rallysport Magazine'. This was Eleanor's first ever rally and what a day it turned out to be.

1998 Lyndon Barton / Johnny Vance - MG Metro 6R4
The 1993 winning car returned this year but now in the hands of Lyndon Barton. Barton and co-driver Johnny Vance had a very close fight all day with fellow Metro pilot Peter Lloyd. Barton managed a fine display of aggressive but controlled driving to take his first Promenade win on only his second visit to New Brighton.
